A Celebration of Nepal’s Advancing ICT Sector

On Friday, December 17, 2021, a few members of the Fusemachines team gathered to honor and celebrate the achievements and efforts of technology entrepreneurs, innovators, decision makers and educators of Nepal at the 2021 ICT Awards. Organized by Living with ICT, the sixth annual ICT Awards recognized national achievements in  information technology and communications in Nepal from students and professionals alike in twelve categories.

Those in attendance had the opportunity to hear from national leaders including Gyanendra Bahadur Karki, Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Dr. Baikuntha Aryal, Secretary at the Ministry of Communications, Suresh Acharya, Secretary at the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, among other dignitaries. As practitioners in the disruptive field of artificial intelligence, it was encouraging for us to witness every single speaker at the event, educator and ministry official alike, extend their hands and make a commitment to the advancement of information, technology, communications resources, infrastructure and opportunities.

It’s no secret that technology will continue to improve socio-economic structures in countries around the world. For developing and underserved countries such as Nepal, to fully embrace the benefits of technology-led advancements, education will remain the game changing step. Fusemachines has continually sought ways to expand education and talent generation opportunities in the field of AI in Nepal. We are grateful that platforms like ICT Awards are helping us further our efforts by offering an avenue for mindshare with those eager to make Nepal a digital-first, tech-forward nation.

We would like to wholeheartedly congratulate all the winners of this year’s ICT Awards and look forward to attending the event in the future.
